When taking a headshot photo of a team member, it's important to be as consistent as possible. Designate 1-2 people to take the headshot photos. And Always take photos in the exact location with the same lighting.
Find Indirect Natural Light: Look for an area with abundant natural light, but avoid direct sunlight, which can cause harsh shadows. An overcast day can provide a soft, diffused light, which is very flattering for headshot photography.
Position the Head: Have the subject face towards the light source (i.e., a window) to ensure their features are well-lit. Avoid light from the side.
Position the Body: Have the subject slightly rotate their shoulders
Stabilize Your Phone: Keeping your phone stable is critical for a clear shot. Hold your phone with both hands and use your elbows against your body for extra stability.
Eye Level: Ensure the lens is at eye level with your subject.
Orientation: Portrait or landscape are both fine. However, it seems more natural to hold the phone for taking a portrait photo over a landscape photo.
Avoid Digital Zoom: Feel free to move around your subject to find the right distance.
Framing: The subject's eyes should be around the top third of the frame. Make sure the subject is looking straight into the lens to create a connection with the viewer of the headshot.
Use Built-in Tools: The iPhone's Photos app includes several editing tools. You can adjust exposure, contrast, saturation, and sharpness, among other settings.
Retouching: Be subtle with skin retouching to maintain a natural look; over-editing can make the headshot appear artificial.
Crop if Necessary: Crop the picture to improve composition, if needed. Ensure that the head and shoulders are the main focus, with some breathing room around the head.
Consistency: If youโre taking headshots for professional purposes, make sure that all the images have a consistent look and feel.
Finally, practice and consistency are key.
Now, go take some headshots. We can't wait to see what you create.
